Description: Tidal water surface layers, generated using the software program V-DATUM, were provided by the NOAA Coastal Services Center for the coastal waters of New Jersey. MHHW (mean higher high water) layer and MLLW (mean lower low water) were mapped based on V-Datum. Deep Water areas were based on the US Geological Survey seamless topographic-bathymetric digital elevation model (at 1 m grid cell resolution, vertical units in meters, datum NAVD88) (derived from aerial lidar surveys flown on October 18-26, 2012; https://www.usgs.gov/special-topics/coastal-national-elevation-database-applications-project/science/hurricane-sandy#overview; https://www.usgs.gov/centers/eros/science/usgs-eros-archive-digital-elevation-coastal-national-elevation-database-coned). The data were rasterized to 10 m grid cells to match the spatial extent of the NOAA CSC New Jersey DEM. The Tidal Zones were defined by elevation with Deep Water < 6 meters below MTL, Subtidal as >6m & < MLLW, Intertidal as > MLLW & <MHHW, Uplands > MHHW.
